I've been posting on the Sony HD info board (http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/). Keep in mind the DV image from the Sony is down sampled from HD. So you're still getting a heck of an image for DV. This image can be immediately used like any other DV cam. What I mean is SVHS looks better than VHS even on a regular TV, so ho much better would down converted HD look? That's probably what I'll do if I get this camera until FCP upgrades. And then I'll probably jump into HDV. But I'm interested in seeing a motion oriented 24p clip from the Sony.

doesn´t FCP do HDV yet? most other NLE either do HDV natively (Pinnacles Edition) or have a plugin (Vegas, PPro), so i guess FCP will also be able to edit HDV somehow.
i hope panasonic will get a 720p cam out soon, cos it is not only the NLE software but the hardware that has a lot to keep up with to work with 1080i, while 720p is a bit less demanding in harddiskspace and CPU power.

FCP has a plug in called Lumiere that everyone seems to swear by, so if I go this route I'll do that. Or just down convert. I really don't care as long as the image is good.
