what happened

I was filming a Close up of a woman in a White sweater. I had all my settings on Automatic. I noticed half way into the scene there was a slight color shift. It looked like the white balance was making a correction, as the white became more white. I noticed that after the shift the whites looked correct. Is it the white balance that caused this or could it have been something else? Could it have been the tape or worste the camera?

If you had all settings in automatic, then it was almost certainly an automatic white balance adjustment.

If you want to avoid that in the future, you have to manually lock the white balance.

Thanks for the reply. What a relief. I have to add that I have only had this camera for a week, and I love it! It produces such a wonderful image for the price. I have also been inpressed with the cineframe modes. You have to tweek a bit to get your desired look, but that is the best part to me. I am feeling pretty confident with my desicion.
