Looks interesting.
However, it's wierd that the effects (cg, bluescreen, etc.) look so obvious compared to effects in the US these days.

looks great. I saw that trailer last month and my jaw dropped. Sure the effects look different from those found in the US, but thats what makes it stand out IMO. It has a surreal feel to it, whereas the effects houses in the US always gun for photoreal. I'll be throwing this puppy on my DVD shelf as soon as I can get it.

That's just the thing tho. In almost all other sectors than film, japan excells at acheiving photorealistic computer graphics (video games, cg animations, advertisements, etc.). Case in point, Final Fantasy was probably the most photorealistic CG film to date, and it was done by Square (a japanese video-game company). While this film does look interesting, the effects look a lot like the visual effects that were coming out of Hong Kong cinema a few years ago.

agreed. they somewhat remind me of the legend of zu effects, along with "the avenging fist" looks good though. can't wait.

I finally got a chance to see this film.
I really enjoyed the style used. The whole thing felt like a mix between anime, a final fantasy game, Sin City, Heavy Metal and a pseudo super hero flick.
Anyone get a chance to check this out?

dude, you just bump a thread that is 3 years old.
I watched it on DVD last year and man, what a mess this movie is. The effects are amazing for the first few minutes but after that it's just too much.
The story also moves at a really SLOW pace and feels really jumbled up and unorganized. It is also way too long.
Honestly, this movie would have probably work much better as an anime....actually come to think of it, I think this is based on an anime or manga.

Of course it wasnt that good, but it was worth watching for the style. It is what it is.
