I am sorry if this topic has come up already as I don't frequent this forum on a regular basis. Final Cut Pro HD can handle the format of this camera right? I remember seeing 1080i in the list of options when I was setting up my sequence for a project the other day.

need a fast computer. You also need to install Imovie5 on your system, in order to get th Apple Intermediate Codec. After that, stay away from Imovie5, even for capturing the video file. There are plenty of other better tools.

You can also use FCP without Intermediate codec, but it all depends on how big and fast your system is. Some people might be able to handle uncompressed files. Have no idea if there are any advantages.

What sucks with FCP is that exporting a still image is not practical. This high reslution camera can produce quality stills and I wish FCP would make the process easier. Premiere is much better for that.

I am using a pretty quick G5. I don't have any problems making stills in Final Cut Pro. I am about to make some tonight of my Desperate Housewives and Lost shoots.

no the problem I have with final cut pro making stills, is just the number of times I need to click to mouse. export with quicktime conversion, still image... I remember with Premiere there was a key combination and that was it. Not a big deal if you are extracting a couple of frames, really annoying if you are extracting 50 or 100

I agree with all regarding the exporting single frames...it is a pain and really badly integrated in FCP...hopefully they realize this in FCP 5.
