I will be writing a tutorial in the field of special effects (to commemorate this new section), but wasn't sure what subject would be most useful to start. So you decide!

Oh, and let me know if anyone wants more detailed explainations of the choices.

I'm all up for a motion tracking tutorial :).

In fact I wouldn't mind a tutorial on all of the above!

I've gotta agree that you should spend all your time and energy into writing detailed tutorials on all of them. ;)

Yeah, good point - who needs to earn a living anyway? ;)

I'd like to cover them all; this poll was really just to see which I should start with.

It looks like we're swinging towards compositing, so perhaps I'll get crankin'.

I'll put up a greenscreening tutorial (specifically concerning After Effects and After Effects Pro) once I finish some work for my latest "film" which is really greenscreen heavy. (Unfortunately, it all looks totally fake.)

Sorry to stray off topic but why does it look fake? And out of curiosity, what version of AE do you have?

It looks fake since the lighting doesn't match between the foreground and background. Also, there's a little green spill and a bit of fuzz around the edges due to 4:1:1 color space.

Motion tracking . . . i would follow that one ;)

mmmm dontcha love when people come up with ideas, share them to the whole forum, then just forget about them.

I've been waiting for the poll to close, Zach. ::)

Anyhoo, since compositing and motrack are the faves, I'll finish up the tutorial based on those two combined. I've been planning on splitting up the tut into a beginner and advanced, using FCP and AE as example programs. But those using other software should be able to follow the same basic game plan.

Has the poll closed yet? :)

Hopefully you're still up for sharing some of your mastery of the subjest with the rest of us. I look forward to seeing the tutorial.
