2 questions. a) is it supposed to be photoreal? and b) why can't you film a real key going into a lock?

in answer to your 2 questions... a) it dont have to be photo real just good quality b) i cant film a key going into a lock as they dont want to see a hand inserting the key it has to float into view and go into lock i have found 1 firm that do graphics and they want £500 for a simle annimation if i add texture and shadow that will push it to around £1000 .. i know 3d modeling isnt cheap but ...... someone did mention a prog called cool 3d that has stuff like this and isnt expensive any one used or heard of it ?

this stuff is expensive...i would say call around to some local colleges or art schools or where ever and see if any students would want to take it on. alot of people starting out in the vfx world will do this sort of thing for free or for very lttle money to get on a a demo reel.
