K, here's my situation. Me and a couple friends are entering a film competition, where the theme is "The 5 Senses". Immediately, I thought more of a visual, stylized short than a formal movie. Fast paced editing, a lot of work done in post, etc.

This is mainly an experimental video for me. I've been editing for about 2 years now, but never anything as fast-paced or "cool" as this is hopefully going to be. After watching stuff on this site (the recent video about a haircutter comes to mind) I know people can help me out with the faced paced editing.

The main thing I was wondering, is how do you shoot something like this? Any suggestions?

I dont know if you've seen this movie (THIS IS NOT ONE THAT I MADE), but it's similar to what I would like to do (except obviously a lot better).

Any suggestions would be great though!
Thanks in advance.

I remember seeing this video awhile back. Shooting this I think would be fairly simple. Just look at how they shot there video. Wide shots, rule of thirds, CU, etc. Its all about the editing. You better know your Aftereffects. The guys who did this video used of lot of photoshop layers, animated 3d, and different uses of blending modes. It's fairly simple but requires lots and lots of work. I my self don't really have patiences anymore. Syncing the music with the visuals will take alot of time. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply man. The main thing I'm worried bout is shooting it wrong, and realizing that in the editing process. Its hard to tell what moving camera shots are done in post and in camera.

Thanks for the advice though.

Another quick questions... We're shooting this in about 4 days, but I'm preparing now by creating all my photoshop layers... I've already made about 40 different mattes, but I was wondering in Premier Pro 1.5 (just got it a week ago) how you make it appear over the video? I had Premiere 6.0 mastered, and I couldn't find the transparency settings in 1.5. Any advice about how to make it in Photoshop for the best results? Transparent background, green screen, white background, etc?

Thanks again

I hope this pic helps. basically its under effects/ keying. In photoshop, make your backgrounds transparent. No black, green, blue, just transparent. It eliminates the keying process.

Thanks for the help... hopefully I'll be able to find some webspace to post this when we're done...
