Doing promotional video for B&B.
Includes several vignetts.
One is lamp, chair, book, glasses and a steaming cup of coffee or tea.
Anyway,---how do I get the steam wafting off the cup look?
I mean apart from turning the heat way down!
Hey maybe I just answered my own question.
Except the guests might not appreciate shutting off the heat. ;D

You shouldn't have to turn the heat waaay down to get steaming from the cup. :)

Try to have the background as dark as possible, and backlight the steam (a pinspot would be nice so nothing else gets hit).

That's how I'd try it, anyway. Experiment.

Thanks Dan'l.
Will try those suggestions.
Might no be as tedious as I think.
May come about quite naturally.
We don't want to have to resort to the old fog machine.
That might break the mood. :o

Use and empty cup and try using some burning sage. The smoke looks the same, just experiment....

Partical illusion.
Example :
http://www.vcode.com/video/homework16x9.avi (23mbt)
http://www.vcode.com/video/homework_web.avi (smaller 13mbt)
watch for small smoke rasing from hand or from can.
Easy to add rising smog/steam in after production.
