Just roughing it out right now. The wings are temporary, but will be made of a leather type material and will retract to the back of the ship. These ships are pretty much gliders as they do not have an engine(no resources on the planet to power an engine). The wings retract to allow for a quick descent. There will be another version of the ship that allows for 2 passengers. the pilot can drop the infantry man off through the bottom of the ship and pick him up after the battle the same way. I know the renders aren't great but what do you think about the design so far? thanks in advance for any input!!!
Edit: I am unsure where to put the weaponry on the ship. It would only be a small machinegun type weapon. Any ideas?

looks pretty cool, but i am curious as to how you pick someone up in a glider :P

the glider will swoop low to the ground and a seat will be hanging below it. The passenger will let the seat take them, kind of like a ski lift.
Edit: i'll update later. I removed the scoop type thing from behind the pilots seat. looked too formula one to me.

I want to see it some textures applied to it. Is it going to be deck out in chrome like materials? It looks good but till u render one out with textures then I'll give my crit.. :)

hey man, i dig what i see here so far. im diggin the design and concept. i like the simplicity of it. the idea of a glider type ship is cool.
the most obvious place for a gun on a ship like this is on the belly of the front area. alot like an apache heli. this way it can easily protect itself from ground fire.
whats your concept for a material treatment? sound like your going kinda rustic? and something used and abused maybe?
anyway
good stuff man. keep us posted.

Look nice, what you think about additing vertical tail, not from practical point, but it will make look little bit more 3d from side view.

The materials are going to be rough looking. Worn and torn type stuff with a little rust here and there. The concept behind the glider is pretty much from a launch sequence I had thought up. I have the Enemies fortress on a mountain top and since they have no resources to power the ships, the gliders use tunnels carved into the mountain to gain the momentum for launching. I have some concept art of the castle drawn up and if i can pull it off it should be pretty sweet. This is really my first vehicle type model using subd's. I started modeling because I wanted to put my own characters in Quake etc.. so m only real experience is with bipedal characters :/ we'll see how it goes. Vovka, I think you may be right, the profile could be more interesting, but i think once the weaponry is on the ship it will spice it up a bit.

Cool looking glider. The launch sequence sounds like fun. I imagine the sled jetting through the tunnel and then popping out of the mountain and spreading it's wings (maybe go bigger with the wings).
Sorry to nitpick, but if they have machine guns couldn't they use the gun powder for rockets?

hehe,i thought of the gunpowder issue. I'm now planning on different weaponry not sure what, but I'll post it up soon.

Maybe a gatling gun style crossbow?

You could do a variation of what they did in 'Nam. Spec Ops guys there would launch a balloon with a hoop on it. A plane would swoop down and "catch" the hoop with a hook. The operator was tethered to the other end of the hook. He would get pulled straight up an trailed behind the plane until they pulled him in via a winch.
