Terry--
Check further down the list of postings in this forum--one of the first ones is about "Dogville".
I still haven't seen it, but I've never seen anything by Lars Von Trier that's let me down thus far.

Oops! *:-[
Thanks for being kind about it, Jay. * :)
I'm still reeling from recent attacks and need to return to my cornerman.
Don't you just love it when the last guy to walk in to the party points to the corner of the room and says, "Hey, look. There's a keg over there!"?

No problem Terry--we've all been there! :)
If you do see Dogville, please posts your thoughts--I'm hoping to see it next week, and I'll be sure to do the same.

"Dogville" is the best film I have seen this decade, by far. It's the most shocking assult against inhumanity and the Christian value system since the days of C.T. Dreyer. The Brechtian formalism, the typical moments of improvised L.V. Trier, wonderful performances by Kidman and Bettany. An astonishing experience, and as it nears its end, for me, marks it as the finest of all modern films.
And there are some who site it as anti-American. But really, it's anti-Westernized value systems. The most primitive and horrendous acts still remain after the veil has been ripped away. And most importantly, it's a film that is so goddamned relevant today that it's breathtaking.
I saw it last fall at the NY Film Festival, and I have never seen such an explosive film experience in my life. People standing, screaming calling it a "Hateful piece of shit!" where others were whistling and saying "Bravo!" The experience of seeing it in NY and the experience of the film itself is one I will never forget. And for those curious to see a three hour movie with the most theatrical aesthetic of any I've seen as of late, this is your film. Experimental, breathtaking, shocking, and utterly polarizing, but most importantly, a masterpiece.
