View Full Version : test footage from GH13 (why is it so choppy)

Shot with GH13 on C settings (I think). ISO 200, canon 50mm 1.8f lens. Shutter speed 60. Some of it is natural light (low light) and some is under our set lighting (it should be pretty easy to tell which is which). Biggest things I have an issue with so far, is the banding in some stuff (I couldn't see it in anything but the natural lowlit stuff.. and I normally would never be shooting like that. I was just seeing how far I could push it.) And for some reason the playback seems choppy. I don't know why. I did pulldown with cineform, and edited in vegas 9... playback in vegas seemed ok.. the render seems choppy to me though. Tips?

Are you sure you're exporting the right frame rate?

I think I am, but I'm not sure.

What should it be? I was using the "let footage choose frame rate" option in vegas.

the cineform files seem to be choppy themselves.. hmm

the mts files are not choppy when played back in VLC.. but the avi files are that were produced by cineform.

is it possible that I could have had native 24p checked in ptools and so trying to remove pulldown in cineform caused funky issues. I thought it was unchecked, but looking at it now.. seems like it could have been. I just reconverted one of the clips and now the cineform file isn't choppy.

I am pretty sure that was it... just rendered out a new file, and its not choppy.. without removing pulldown.
