If I have Prem. Pro with the Adobe Media Encoder do I have anything decent to compress my video for the web?

I tried most of my options for QT compatible compression, but the file sizes were pretty unwieldy.

If I have nothing in Premiere to compress with, is there any free program that'll compress decently enough so I don't have to spend my money on Sorenson?

Thanks!

Yeah i had asked this question earlier in this forum but noone answered me...I just kept playing around with the settings..I dont kno why, and im sure there is a good explaination for it, but when I go to export something in for QT it doesnt tell you how big the file size is gonna be.. Un like WM or Real..they do it...why cant QT??? Oh well.. my suggestion is just keep playing with the settings or try mpeg4 or mayb someone will answer you in here...I wonder if you Buy quicktime that when u compress it in the program it gets it smaller..hmmm.. i duno I almost always use WM9 anyways..Hope you get the answer ur looking for

My ISP Verizon only allows uploading of .mov, avi, mpg. They give me 10 megabits of space , which is nothing, so I had to pay extra for another 50 megs. But avi's, mpg's and quicktimes are huge files. So what I did was encode my clips as WMV, then I changed the extension from .wmv, to . mov. WMV format seems to compress well and the file sizes arent huge.

It's probably worth noting here that both AVI and QuickTime (.mov) are not video codecs, but media file formats. I'm sure there have been other posts explaining the difference, so I won't repeat that here.

If your AVI/QuickTime files are vastly larger than your WMVs, odds are that you need to try a different codec, or simply tweak your codec's settings.

Also, try reducing the dimensions of your rendered video. You can cut the file size down considerably. The sound can also add a large amount to the filesize. Make sure to play around with the encoder for sound.
