Hi all,
Well, I managed to export my rather large 22 minute film to a quicktime movie. Took two days to do it and its a roughly 35GB file now.. The problem is that each time I start compressing the file with Cleaner 6, it crashes.
I'm running Panther 10.3 on a G4 dual 450mhz processor with 1.5 gigs of ram. Had no problem compressing the teaser that's on my site with this program so I know the program works. Is it the size of my source file? If so, is there a way to correct this? Suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey. No real answer to give, except from my experience it should not take that long to export your movie and 22minutes should not come close to that size of a file(unless I'm missing something).
Whenever I use cleaner I first export a self contained Quicktime movie in Final Cut.(The top choice on Export above compressor). This makes a cut of your movie as it is, no compression, not alteration, just as it is on the timeline). A 22 minute movie should take say 10 minutes to 15 minutes to create(max).
Then I'd take that and drag it into Cleaner, double click and make my compressed internet version.
I have a power mac g4 1.4ghz.
(My feature film which is 89minutes is only 14.44 GB as a self contained quicktime and only took about 2hrs to export out, so I think it's on the Final Cut end where you are first getting a problem).

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the response. I think the reason the file took so long to render out as a FCP movie was because of the magic bullet usage on it. I'm also only running a G4 dual 450mhz with 1.5 gigs of ram in it.
I believe the large size of the file is what's crashing cleaner 6. I compressed it with quicktime pro to 120MB as an MPEG-4. Now I'm running cleaner on that file with no problem so it's not like the program is simply corrupted. Strangley enough, compressing an already compressed file isn't creating a crappy image. Go figure.
Check out my response to your other response in the final cut section of the forum. Thanks again

Hey,
I'm having a similar problem, cleaner runs fine but everytime I use magic bullet Final Cut freezes up, I'm on a 500mhz 512 megs of ram, hows magic bullet running on your machine , storyteller?
Derek.

I had no problem using magic bullet in my FCP. But I'm running a dual 450mhz machine with 1.5 gigs of ram so my system is quite a bit stronger than yours.
I'd suggest maxing out your ram if you're going to use magic bullet in FCP on the system you have. It takes LOOOOONG time to render with magic bullet no matter what system you're running. Just one of the drawbacks of using MB. But I'd guess that you're getting freezes because of the ram issue (along with the single chip 500mhz issue)
