NooB compression guy here. About all I know how to do is open my cleaner 6 program and drop a self contained FCP output onto the presets. That's how I got my teaser/trailer up on my website.

But now I find myself in a difficult situation. I finally finished the film in post and want to put it up in it's entirety on my site. Given the large file size of my 2 minute teaser, I'm scared to think of the file size and download time for a 22 minute film with any reasonable quality level and image size.

Anyone have some suggestions for me? Remember, I'm a noob. So please be exceedingly clear and step by step here...

I'm a noob too, but I have had some success. I looked at "deadkids field theory" flic and thought I liked the quality. That film is 15 minutes long and 120 mb's all in. jesse croan told me he used sorrenson squeeze pro 3 but provided no settings. A buddy of mine has this software too. So I tested different combinations for a few days and came up with a 15 min file of my own that eventually compressed to 120,mb's same quality. I used qt compressor 1meg/sec stream, 1passCBR, 1000kbps data rate, 320x240 frame size, bidrectional frames=force for playback scalability, image smoothing and streaming checked. everything else was left in default mode. Audio was set to Fraunhofer mp3, 48 kbps data rate, sample size 16, sample rate 22050 and stereo channels :) hope this helps... the settings are what I put into sorrenson 4 squeeze program.

Sorenson 4 is a little more extensive that its predecessor and i managed to compress to a very high quailty Video and Audio file converted from a 3.5 GB file as an AVI using the default CD setting within the QT format. It ended up at 127 mb and is very good. You need the program for the PC? Send me your address and i'll pop it in the post as a very generous chap did the same for me i can only do likewise. Or email me at bryanlarkin_1@hotmail.com

Cheers
