Recently ran across a video on a website that was over 1 hr in length, excellent quality and less than 10k in size. It was a .ram codec? It played in the realtime player. Any ideas how they did this?

.ram is a pointer file to the actual video stored on streaming servers. It's very similary to the old .asx format that Microsoft used. Try playing the .ram file without a live internet connection and the quality of the video won't be so good. :)

Technology isn't to the point of compressing 1 hr to a 10k file.

I guess I should actually answer the original question. :-[ They probably did this using RealProducer Plus which is Real's content creation program. It would allow them to encode the video to be hosted on the server, and then create the .ram link file to put on the website.
