How they get the trailers on quicktime.com to look so damn good? what codec and settings are they using? anyone know?

Most of the trailers i've seen are sorenson3, 12 or 24fps, Qdesign Music 2 for audio (stereo 22050 or 44100 Hz). Data rate of about 58bytes/sec on the medium trailers, 160 on the high.
