Hi there.
I am doing a dvd. Itīs an hour and a half theater play.
I have a problem. Hope it dissapear.
Since i didnīt have space to do the entire play in one piece i īve decided to edit it in various pieces. Like chapters from a dvd. So i have (so far) a couple of pieces (ten minutes each) and they are already convert to mpeg2.
My intention is that the dvd plays the complete theater play without stopping in the chapter (a play all devices...)
First I thought i could add the different pieces of video in a single timeline. I see i canīt. So what i am doing now is a playlist.
Here is the question: I did a project preview just with those two videos. I made a menu with a link to the first timeline and in the properties of the first timeline i set up tha at the end goes to the second timeline... In order to play it straight.
It doesnīt.
I mean it does, but not fluid. It does it with a slightly but visible delay. It pass like a second till it comes to the next video.
Anybody has made a dvd under these circunstances.
Is it just a problem of the preview?

Due to the actual circunstamces of the cuts the dvd must seen straight.

What should i do if i cant play it straight? How can i make the mpeg2 archives become a single archive (cause actually is the only thing i can think of) And then create a single timeline in encore?

Some help please...

Travis

Yeah, there will always be that little 1 second delay between timelines. It happens with menus too.

You should just reassemble all the footage in an NLE and then drop the one file into one timeline.

The footage is already compressed for dvd. Canīt reassamble it in a nle. It would means another recompression.
I found out some programs, some mpeg joiners ("boilsoft mpeg joiner")
It says it can join different mpeg videos without any recompression.
I guess iīll try that. I hope it works.
Thanks anyway.

Be sure to keep us posted, I'd like to know how it turns out.

So far turns out horrible.
I try a couple of programs. Both were more indicated for joining pictures or small clips. Not mpegs.
There was one, Boilsoft, that works. At least it joined mpeg files. But after that, when i tried to import it to encore as an asset didnt work.

What i see is that all this programs are really unworthy.without any professional porpuse.

At least i did have a copy of the first parts in mini dv. So I will have to capture it again and reunit all in a single timeline and spend a couple of days compressing the huge file.

I should ask santa claus for a 300gig hard disk

Itīs weird that encore cant do a simple joining. I mean the timeline should have more options than just to add a video and an audio. Well... never mind...

Yeah, I think it has to do with how DVD players handle timelines...

but on the other hand, you would think that it could just unite them and trick the DVD player...

Now that I think about it that is pretty lame.
