ok, I have 16:9 footage edited in adobe using 16:9 timeline... I exported as DV AVI and when I import it into sorenson squeeze 4 (trial version) it appears as 4:3... I can't crop it to 16:9 either
how do I make it into 16:9?

Well, I'm not in front of my Squeeze 4 box, but looking at Squeeze 3, there's a button in the MPEG-2 settings window called "Options." Clicking that enables you to set the pixel aspect ratio to 16:9. If that doesn't give you enough info then post back and I'll check it on Squeeze 4 this evening.
