i think i already made up my mind:
i will go for the DVX anyway, but wait a few weeks (have 3 cams here anyway) to see if they drop in price. and maybe the canon offers so much a jump in quality that these reasons NOT to buy it need to be rethought:
a) the XL2 is priced Euro 5400 and here the streetprices are often where the producer set the retailprice anyway (the DVX goes for euro 3200 now; if you can get hold of one ;-) ).
b) looking at my style and also analyzing 2 films and uncounted ads yesterday most shots are in the range of the DVX. if i need a long lens i have a Betacam here or always can rent a XL2 at that day. maybe there will be a better teleconverter someday too.
c) i do not like the bodydesign of the XL2. there seem too many things i can break or lose. it is also heavy as my Betacams
d) i want to be able to go with the glidecam2000; the XL2 will be too heavy, so that would cost more again to get the gc4000
e) the DVX can be a nice and "hideish cam" which can quickly be turned into a "prolooking" cam with a matteblox or such. the XL2 will always be seen and noticed (even if you donīt want to) but STILL not be pro, cos then it would be black or grey.......(thatīs what the people on the street will say IMO)
f) basically it does not matter what cam you use.....it is the creativity and the ability to get the shot you want.
