In Belgium the price for an XL2 is the same as the DVX100A + anamorphic lens.
+-6000€ for xl2
+-4700€ for DVX100A
+-1300€ for anamorphic lens
I don't know wich to buy.
I want to record in 16:9. I know the DVX100A uses the whole 1/3" CCD, but the XL2 has more pixels.
More pixels = sharper
Bigger CCD = Better colors, dynamics
Only the new 20x lens is sharp enough for the XL2. Because of the smaller effective CCD use.
Canon has always been a lensmaker so I think they will make a wide angle for this camera or a converter.
I'm scared to misuse the anamorphic lens for the dvx100A because I know myself.
I'm a little clumbsy with those things.
b.t.w this site rulez ;)
Thank u for reading this.

Hello drt,

Even if you can find the dvx100Ae + ana. lens for a lower price in France, the situation is mainly the same and most people buy it outside.

Watch this link for example :
http://www.expandore.biz/detail.asp?getITEM=483&start=1&getbrand=1&getprodu cttype=2

Lot of people in France buy Pal dvx from expandore located in singapore and I never heard any bad comments about them.

They do it for (dvx100Ae + ana. lens) 3,485.00 euro. You have to add the shipping (they help you to find the best price), the vat and taxes but it could be stay interesting.

But if you are scared about using the ana. lens, buy the xl2 (with expandore or somebody else !).
