;D Okay, I tricked you all. My secret is out. There is no Free XL2. :o

Too bad...and no Free DVX. (Booo...ssssss.)

But wait! There IS a way to--how shall we say--twist circumstances to the user's advantage thru, er, creative financing.

It goes like this. Some reputable retail sellers offer their own (GE, Monogram, etc.) store credit cards. Usually the interest rate is outrageous. But...many offer 6-12 month no interest/no payment terms and offers. You just gotta pay off the camera before the final bill clicks into the interest terms. (Be REAL sure to do that...)

I don't know of anyone who does this with DVX since dvx is from Panny commercial division. But Canon is another story. I've purchased 3 Canon camcorders, 3 Nikon stills, at competitive to below average market prices--kept/used each for 11 mos, then sold them for 10 percent less than I paid for them. It's like having a free camera--less 10 percent--for 11 mos.

From the looks of things I'll probably end up with a DVX though--use a cc that has 1 year zero percent interest balance transfer, accomplish the same goal.

Everyone in business seeks lease or creative financing options. They're out there. Be honest in all that you do. Take advantage of what's offered--if you can qualify. Look around.

If only B/H offered their own card! Whoa!

:o

This works sometimes... I've done the same with musical instruments in the past.

The only problem I see is that as far as the Canon goes, you would be betting on the price staying at it's current level, by this time next year the price of a new one could be 10% less than what they sell for today. There's a chance you could be taking a hit for well over 10%... but still, if you can get a couple projects completed and still get 75% of your money back a year later, you're doing good.

Sounds interresting,
but could you maybe explain a little bit more detailed how it works exactly?
maybe in very simple english, for us non native english speakers...?
does anyone do this in europe?

Yeah, what if Canon is offering one of those $500 mail in rebates at the time when you're trying to sell your used camera. You'll end up getting like a grand less for it... which still might be worth a year's use.

I don't know about the credit card bit but I do this all the time with eBay and sometimes I even break even from what I originally paid (minus shipping and fees).

Last month I sold my Canon 10D outfit and Panasonic NV-GS100 on eBay and bought my DVX100A.

I'm not a big fan of credit cards but I could see how that could be tempting (and dangerous).
