Dear friends....

Actually some stores are selling canon xl2 less than 4500 US$. There are some people arround these fourms..encouraging the fans of canon xl2 to buy for 4999.00. Since these guys are marketing for those big companies. Ill ask you guys a question? if a big distributor is distributing canon xl2 it should be less than the market within the region. But it clearly indicates that their charges are very very high. some stores are selling even more than 5000US$. do keep attention. I observed some guys on dvinfo.com.
check this link.

1) Who on DVINFO is doing that?
2) Did you check resellerratings for 'ebuyer' I think they've got a rating of 7ish. Read some of the comments. Might be worth it, but then again if you're like one guy who ended up with just a box with a manual in it - who knows ;)

I had trouble finding the XL2 on the site, however if you look on the left hand side down the bottom you can be either logged in as ENGLAND/USA choose usa and go http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&pro duct_uid=150042 or just do a canon XL2 search and it is indeed that price which i find as a shock :O

Vamshi, you should stop shopping by price. You're going to run into the same scam shops that advertise the DVX for $1989... it doesn't exist, and you will never buy a DVX for $1989 regardless of how much those guys advertise it. And if you order some $4200 XL2, I can *almost* guarantee you you won't get it. Nobody legitimate undercuts B&H by 20%. If the price you're looking at is more than 5% below B&H, you can be pretty sure it's not legit.

Vamshi,

Have you bought an XL2 from 1-877camcorder.com? If not, you'd better be careful about posting unconfirmed prices. Have you dealt with 1-877camcorder.com on other purchases? If you just fished up an internet price, you're not helping anyone. So either do your homework and find out if it's a legitimate price, or don't post this stuff. Thanks.

Resellerratings.com has no info or should I say there has not been a review of 1-877camcorder.com. It's got to be so easy to setup a new web site with the same old phone number and scam artists. And I'm sure that less informed buyers will either not look them up on reseller or assume since no bad reviews they must be good.

HI Barry.

I accept you Barry in all your ways. Let me ask you one question. Why you again giving preference to B&H, Compared to other markets. B&H Charges heavy heavy prices, Especially on particular Items. May be you like buying from B&H, I dont care.
Alright you asked weather somebody buy it from ebuyer.com or not check this link.

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31463

What I mean to say is that.
If you get a canon xl2 for 4200 you can buy extra wide angle lens within the range of 5000 $. I think this post doesn't relates to you. Regarding helping others. I dont say that to buy a camcorder for $4999.00 . Still you want to help the people. Get the guys the good price. You cant do it since i think you are also in somewhat linked to B&H.
Thats why i raised this issue. You dont know how many emails i got from the people., where no body know the exact price of canon xl2. got it. Coz canon doesn't express the price, So B&H and its associates decide the price. ,Because of these guys encouragement and their diversification making the desperate people losing money from their pockets. These are my intentions observed from forums.

Im so Mad! >:(
I feel so ripped off... :'(

This guy on XL2watchdog site said he orderd his from ebuyer.com on thursday the 2nd for only 4,500$.

Plus he got his XL2 shipped overnight for only 35$! Thus, he got it on Friday and is already saying its awsome.

I am so jellous cause I orderd my XL2 on Wendsday the 1st and paid 5000$ and still have not even gotten a UPS tracking number yet!

I am also feeling bad about my purchase cause Sony just annouced that in November they are selling there HDV camera! I waited all summer for the XL2 since the rumors in June and now 2 months from now there will be a better camera than the XL2...(maybe/maybe not?)

Feeling down/ o-well, maybe if I ever do get my XL2 in the mail it will make up for wasting 500 bucks...

A Human.

Stephanie,

The price should include a lot more than just a camera. If it is from a good dealer, support is very important. I wouldn't feel bad if I ended up paying an extra $500. You bought early, which means at a premium. If your dealer will be behind the product, the $500 is worth every penny.

Over the next year, I surmise, there will be new amazing cameras every 90 days. We are in a real time of transition to HD. I bet Panasonic is quietly developing something, too.

Have fun with your cam, I wish I had one. I'm waiting another 45 days before I purchase, but no longer.

Hey Vamshi, to each his own, feel free to buy it wherever you want. All I'm saying is there is an amazing amount of liars, cheats, scumbuckets, thieves, and scam artists out there who advertise very low prices and they never come through.

I only recommend B&H because they are a reliable, honest, completely trustworthy dealer who will always deliver the product, and who always have great prices. You will rarely ever find a price at a reputable seller that's much lower than what B&H charges (or other great sellers like EVS or ProMax). If you find a much lower price somewhere, I can almost guarantee you that there's something fishy going on.

But, like I say, to each his own, you're free to shop wherever you want, but just be aware that there are a lot of misleading ads out there.

Vamshi--you're on thin ice here, very thin ice. No one here is in league with B&H, so unless you can support your accusations, I don't want to see any more of these posts. And if I find out you're "Stephanie Tanner", I'll ask Jarred to remove you from the board.

Man that would be the sneakiest way to market and start the ripoff trend that the unauthorized dealers adhere to. I would have never dreamed a online dealer would go to the trouble of faking posts just to make sales. But I bet it works. So sad that they cannnot make a living selling their products on the up and up.

Yes...I find it uncool to be overly assumptive and not give vamshi the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty is the way of the just. Unless Jarred has an IP report with any evidence of double posting or anything else, vamshi should be respected as simply someone who found a lower price on an overpriced camera and simply wanted to pass the info on. Mayhaps he aint, and mayhaps he is. Though I agree it is unwise to shop for these types of things based on price alone...in particular when it comes to warranty work. That number he is giving is indeed a Jamaican NPA/NXX and ebuyer is owned out of Sheffield England:

Prices do seem to be coming down. One Canadian dealer is offering $200 discount plus free case. It's not much but still a discount. It could be that demand is not as great as anticipated. Lesson here is never preorder something that is not in the market yet.

Here is a suggestion for those spending hours flaming other DVX users based on a dealer's preference:

Nobody 'forces you' to buy where others buy. Instead of spending your energy on arguments, go out and shoot videos! Doing that, you may make the extra $500 if you feel ripped off by your dealer... :P

Personally, I found that a good relationship with a brick&mortar dealer works miracles when buying new equipment. In the last three years, I never paid the 'sticker price' for any piece of equipment at my local store, and I get to try it out before buying, which cannot be said about online dealers. Once they know your name & face, and they know you keep coming back, they WILL make you happy :D.

Plus, it's like a trip to a museum, except I don't have to pay admission fee! ;D

Ok. Vamshi, you unwisely started this thread by making unfounded accusations and you continued to do so throughout the thread. I'm nicely asking you to stop for the second time. I'm locking this thread and it will be deleted tomorrow since as far as I can tell it contains no useful information. If someone wants to start a "Best Price for the XL-2" thread that's fine.
