***UPDATE***
Dammit, this was not the post i wanted to make, but it's looking like i have to withdraw from my first Fest attempt.
I have a dayjob, and in order to keep it, it looks like things might get interesting for me. if you wanna continue reading, i'll tell you why.
ok...you decided to read on...
well, i work at a dairy in southern california that provides products to schools, stores and correctional facilities throughout San Diego, Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles Counties. Based in San Marcos California for 60 years, they built and opened a new facility in Riverside Co in 2008...that's where all the cows and chickens went...no no more cows where i work...they built a highschool on that land instead.
problem is...the new facility is in the middle of a desert. so the health dept paid a visit last wednesday and found what was referred to as a "fly and bug infestastion" to such a degree, that they ordered the entire facility to cease "all storage and transport of milk/dairy products until such time as a properly insulated/permanently refrigerated structure could be built." so the facility (except for the milking of the cows of course)...has been shut down completely. so this past weekend, 24 drivers, worked for 16 hours each driving ALL the peoduct they had at that facility down to ours...
what this means to me? well, it takes our crew 8 hours to load 27 trucks at the location where i work. now, we're expected to load 40-45 trucks. so as my foreman put it..."12-16" hour shifts for the 4 months it's expected to make the necessary improvements to our new facility.
why do i stay? the insurance is absolutely amazing. i just had a baby about 3 weeks ago. practically for free. that's why.
it's a thriller allright, but i'll be too tired to make a movie about it haha.
i was really gonna try to give this my all, but it's not gonna work. i have a family. Sorry guys.
-Chris.
poster soon.
my first fest...might as well be this one.
please stay tuned. if possible.

Bummer Chris...those family things always get in the way!
I'll be looking for you in the next fest.
FYI... that's why I've pretty much stopped starting a thread prematurely, there's always something that comes up.

i hope there's nothing implied there and certainly no hard feelings. FYI, last week was good. Had a few locations secured, some help, and my script was well on it's way(still is). I was taking this very seriously. I don't feel i started this thread prematurely. I wanted to build some early interest, Just like everyone else who's entered.
i wasn't sure from day one that all systems were GO, but i kind of "guessed" what the new fest was going to be after WestFest, and i was right. The blood was flowing, and i threw in my entry. No harm in a new challenge. I always work better under pressure, and i thought it was a good time to enter, and i'm glad i did. Things happened to me that I was completely blindsided by, hence my withdrawl.
the film will get made. It just won't meet the deadline. but it still will be a film. and i hope you like it when it's done.

I don't think Zaza was implying anything, just speaking from experience.
When I first read that you were having a baby "any day now" I figured this would never see the light of day. Between that and your work I understand completely.

A new born bay and/or crazy work hours = no time for movie making. I went through that a few years ago. Only if someone can pay good money for us to make film.
Chris, hope to see your film someday. And like you, I hope to become a regular member of dvxfest someday.

Chris... NO... No hard feelings... I just feel you, that's all. Sorry if it came out the wrong way.
I was just saying, as a one-man-show, I always seem to run into some crazy roadblocks trying
to get everything & everyone together for a shoot. Twice I've started threads and have had to cancel because of family, work, etc...
I know how crazy life gets, especially with the addition of a newborn.
I'm still looking forward to the film when you can get it done.

right on Zaza, i appreciate the support and understanding! As well as the support i've received from others who have posted in my thread.
Crazy, but my new baby is the LEAST stressful thing going on lately lol. she does nothing but eat and sleep (just like my other daughter did....but i forgot just how much they sleep at first!)

.
Don't worry about it. I've tried to enter at least 3 fests and had to pull out because I couldn't cast for my films. I was in upstate, NY then and recently moved back to Florida and I'm finally able to enter a fest. So when the time is right, you'll be able to do them too. :)
