View Full Version : Question regarding the 7D and my HPX170 729 24pn footage..

So I am copping a canon 7D from a friend and I have never used a DSLR before. I have seen the footage and I was in the market for a 2nd cam and decided on that. I have checked out some of phillip blooms video on the 7D but I am confused about something.

The 7d doesn't shoot 720 24p?

Maybe this is a stupid question but , with my HPX170 I shoot 720p 24PN. So if my only option in the 7D is 50p at 720, how does that work? Do I have to shoot 1080 24p and scale down to match the 720 fooateg from my hpx or...?

sorry if this has been covered but I couldnt find anything on it. Any clarification would be appreciated. By the way, I am on a PC not Mac. Using cs4 (getting ready to be cs5)

damn.. nobody? I know its a simple question but can someone give me an idea.

Is it that you just shoot in 720 60p and since premiere can mix framerates on the timeline, you just color grade to try and match?? I've always hated the 60p look ( soap opera look) so I've never shot that way before and wouldn't think they would match up.

I love 24pn on my hpx170 and I thought the canon 7D shot 24p 720 but since it doesn't, I'm just trying to get an idea as to whats the best way to shoot and match both cameras since the 7d doesnt do the framerate (24p) in 720 like the hpx.

an answer would be appreciated.

I dont have the 7d, but t2i, and thats the case with it. But im pretty sure down res'd 1080 will be better than native 720. So your better off to shoot with a higher res anyways. hope this helps some.
