View Full Version : XL2 without grain option
The new XL2 camera's made in the year 2005 will have no Film Grain feature anymore. The 'film grain' effect added over the live video is no longer an option when shooting. This feature was toggled by an button on the front panel of the XL2.

Bought an XL2 on the 19th of Jan. It came with the grain option. Asked the tec dept. at Canon, they couldn't give me any info. I'm not saying it isn't true, but would like to know the source of this info. ;D

Canon has opted to do away with the film grain feature and an announcement was posted by Chris Hurd on dvinfo.net some time ago.
It is still undecided as to what they're going to do with the spare button though.

It was posted by the Canon website some time ago, and you find no 'filmgrain button' information in the new CanonXL2EN.pdf
