How does the XL2 go on a "consumer" $100, tripod?
How does it go on any tripod in general?
all i need is someting to sit it on!

There is a threaded hole on the bottom of the camera - This attaches camera to the tripod

Do you really want to mount a camera that cost you 5 grand 5 feet off the ground on a tripod that might collapse? :o
I think not - You can get a decent tripod for a few hundred.
