It is around $170. Is there any other option to consider?
Is it fully compatible with the dvx100e?

There's a bunch out there Varizoom, Manfrotto, the Zoe http://www.16x9inc.com/ - but bang for buck you can't go wrong with ZR-1000. I find I can't shoot without it or I wind up feeling for it on instict. I've had one for about 3 years now and have turned tons of people onto them. They're an excellent product at an excellent price. This way you're not hearing yourself touching the camera controls if your using the on-board mic. Works great on a jib-arm with an extension cable too.

I also have one and it's great. It only has 5 speeds, but it's definitely cheaper than other LANC controllers and fits on my Bogen head perfectly.

Only 5 speeds? Ok but can it hit the super slow crawl of the 20x lens? I use that for a subtle effect, otherwise I primarily use the zoom only to frame shots.

Thanks a lot.
How long is the cable? How slow is the slowest zoom speed?
Bye! ;D

I've used it on an XL1s, a GL2, and even a Sony Handycam and it always seemed to work well. It does have a variable setting, but it probably won't hit the exact slow speed you're looking for. You'd probably have to go for one with 15 speeds or more to get that.
The cable on it is not long (under 12"), but gets to all my cameras' LANC jacks just fine. Mounting it anywhere other than a tripod handle will require the use of an extension cable.
