I got the XL2 in December because I needed 16x9/24p/cine gamma. I had intended to only use it for that and use my DVX or DSR-300 when I needed to shoot 4x3.
Last week an unexpected 4x3 project came up and, for reasons I won't bore you with, I had to use the XL2. I had never even tested it in 4x3/60i/native gamma.
I shot the job, a little nervous about the image (I never liked the images I'd seen in the past from XL1s) and was pleasantly surprised by the result. The pictures are crisp, intercut nicely with my 800 line Sony camera, and generally have better color rendition (to my eye). I am no longer nervous about using the camera in the "traditional" mode..
Oh, and by the way, the audio (I use an Audio Technika on the nose and a Sennheiser 416 w/ wireless)) is excellent - as good as my PortaDat.
