I actually have this one and can recommend it.

Although I haven't read it, I've heard good things about "Directing Actors: Creating Memorable Performances For Film & Television" by Judith Weston.

I've read the Weston book. It's a very worthwhile read.

It's always a good thing to get up to date on your stanislavsky...

"Building a character" is mandatory read! Also, get in touch with the actors universe, read plays, essays on drama and theather, like B.H Clark's "European Theories of the Drama". Even for someone who doesn't like theather that much, those readings always get quite interesting.

It also doesn't hurt to take an acting class or two.

I'm reading Judith Weston's book right now and it's excellent. Wonderful insights.

The best book on directing is "Directing Actors" by Judith Weston.

But better than the book is taking her workshop. She's the best kept secret in show business. Go to http://www.judithweston.com to see her schedule. She even travels with the workshop.

Also - TAKE AN ACTING CLASSS. Actors will respect you more if you have the guts to try and do what they're doing. It will also give you valuable insight to the process.

I've taken Judy's workshop 4 times now and my movies only get better.
