You don't need 35mm for Sundance.

The entry form says you'll need to project in either 35, 16, or 60i HDCAM...and I know a duplication house here in Toronto can do an HDCAM uprez for about $800 CAD. So it's not out of the question of affordability :)

And many film festivals allow DigitBeta as well (which is cheaper to transfer to). I know that the Toronto Film Festival accepts Digital Beta as a projection format...

Hey Zach, this was a response I got back from Trevor at Precision when I inquired about transfer, for what it's worth...

Hello Alveraz,

Will your this be a standard definition 24p or high definition 24p
project?

If standard definition the best choice from a quality stand point for
the
transfer will be to digital betacam ($350.44).
If this is a high definition MiniDV project I will look into costs for
down
conversion to digital betacam.

Unfortunately, our facility does not transfer to film.

Please feel free to contact me if there are any further questions.

Sincerely,
