I have a key scene with a witch.( she predicts the future , is supposed to be funny).During the first rehearsal , I became aware that there are several variations on this theme ;other actors were quoting the princess bride 's witch , the horror movies' witches, the Salem' witch . Myself , I was quoting the gypsy woman in Paris , who took my five dollars, and predicted that I was going to go for a long trip overseas....
The story is serious ( written by JeanPaul Sartre).
My question is :
what movies would you recommend me to watch to get a repertoire of examples of witches, oracle, prophetess ?

If you can stand it, Robin Hood (unfortunately the one with Kevin Costner, Not Errol Flynn).

Eartha Kitt's Ozma in "The Emperor's New Groove" is a must-see.

Willow. After she stopped being frumpy and before she got all earthy, she was nice to watch . . . ::)

You're the director, so try to come up with a fresh interpretation on your own. This is what will make you better at your craft.

Go for it!

Eartha Kitt in "Eric the Viking"

Francesca Annis in "Krull"

Donald Sutherland in "Apprentice to Murder" (well, okay, he's a warlock, or a powwow man, really, but it's an unusual take on the part...)

Why don't you try getting in touch with some real witches (as in those who follow Wicca), tarot readers, or others that follow alternative religions and customs. They may be able to give you a different aspect of your question.

Naw, its much more fun to rely on the cliches that have already been put out in film. J/K =)

That being said, the old soothsayer in 13th warrior, and of course dont forget Master Yoda.

In that case, get Harry Potter and watch Treylawnee (sp?). She'd be a good one.
