Just found this online; the JimmyBox:

Nice looking litte do-dad, but like all things, is WAY overpriced @ $150. I'm sure it can be made for next to nothing. Maybe by somebody on this board with the proper tools (hint hint) ;D
Still, looks like a pretty logical place to put the damn thing.

I know of a local production company that has employed some similar device that mounts on the back of their larger cameras (Sony DSR-35).
Next time I work with them I'll have to see who manufactures the mount.
Jarred once posted a pic of his homemade wireless receiver mounting device. It has a similar box design but without the big handle poking out in front of the lens or the broom bristles inside.
I realize the handle is adjustable/removable, but it just looks so funny hanging out in front and just to the side of the lens. Is that supposed to be made for an ergonomically-correct camera operator position or something?

you got me on the weird handle man. ???
I sure as hell wouldn't use it. I wonder if it's included with the mount though, or is it an extra $50 bucks.
I mean seriously, it's a metal box with some tapped holes and velcro. $150 dollars? that's crazy

It almost makes me want to transition over to the camera accessory production/fabrication business... take a vo-tech course in CNC design and buy a $3,500 desktop fabriction mill.

do it, man.
that's what I was hinting at. Aren't there a couple of posters to this BBS who DO own a mill and have built other stuff?

Yes, there are a few who've fabricated things, but they have a tendency to remain silent when I try to call them out.
