ok assuming I'll be getting a DVX100, I have no idea about audio. I think I'll get the Azden SGM-1X...first off is that good? Then I'll prolly need an XLR adaptor right? whats involved with that?...do I need anything else? Please Help

While every mic is unique and I don't have any experience with the Azdens, Azden mic's are typically not sought after by audio pro's. They're fairly inexpensive, but you'll probably get more bang-for-your-buck from the Audio Technica lineup.

You won't need any kind of XLR adapter for the SGM-1X, but you will need an XLR cable.

It's an OK mic. It's not bad; it's not great. I have one. You get pretty clear sound with a decent envelope, but it's not the most powerful pickup in the world.

so audio technica is a beter choice, and I will need a XLR cable and not the adaptor...anything else that is needed or recommended?

For clarification: I'm not saying that Audio-Technica WILL DEFINITELY be better, I was just saying that overall, many people seem to feel (me included) that their lineup is solid and reasonably priced. That particular mic may be better than the A-T equivalent, I don't know... all I'm saying about Azden is that they seem to cluster around the low end. But you should definitely rely on the opinions of people who know the particular gear, like David. I'm just saying that before you commit to buy, check out the A-T lineup as well and see if they offer something competitive.
