Hello DVX Users

can anyone recommnend an effective windscreen to be used with the Audio Techinca AT897 mic for less than $100? I'm going to mount it on a boom pole on a shock mount, the AT8415 with K-Tek bands.

thanks

At about $130, the Lightwave Equalizer is a bit above your budget, but it does a great job reducing wind noise. It creates a dead air space around the mic with a plastic cage and breaks up the flow of air around the mic with a shell of fake fur. You could also make your own if you hunt down some of the plans floating around.

I'm a newcomer to the group but am glad I found it at long last. To try and come up with a cost effective windscreen, I made my own with fake fur and fleece material. Although I know the hard shell recommendation is far better, I've at least been able to run and gun with materials that cost me less than $10.00!

I made a small sock with the fake fur, another one with the fleece and then joined the two together with an elastic band at the base to keep it all snug. Fleece is one the inside. Did this for the on-camera microphone as well as my wireless lav. Works better than nothing and looks cute.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. For now, I'm just going to wrap some fur around the mic and see how that works. Then I'll look into getting a decent windscreen.
