For this range of price (<300$ CAD), which shotgun would you suggest me ?
mc100g or azden sgm-1x ? or another one ???
It will be used for interviewing people in crowds, parties, etc... I have a wireless lavalier mic (audiotechnica pro88w) but sometimes the interiew is just too short to justify the installation of the lavalier...that's why I wanted a shotgun.
Any suggestions ?

Maybe the Audio Technica 815b or 835b shotgun microphone but it is long. If you are going to mount it on a camera the the AT4073A is supposed to be the best bang for the buck.

I'll let you know about the SGM-1X. I am getting one tommorow, for a bunch of weddings I have coming up in the next several months. I give a nice little review for you some time in the following weeks.

Hey,
My cousin and me went to filmschool together, anyway's he had a sgm-1x that he used with a beach adapter pluged into his gl1, I used it a few times and he filmed a ton with it never a problem. So when I put my dvx package together I thought long and hard about what mic to buy, I was going to get the sgm-2x but it was 6 inchs longer and another $80 usd, so since I had used the sgm-1x and new how it sounds I decided to save a few $ and get that one, I've only filmed a few things with it but it picks up really clear. I don't know about any other mic's other than this on and an Me-66 which was what we used all the time at film school, but for the price difference I'd go with a sgm-1x. hope that helps

We'll from the short time that I have had with it, I have to say that for $149 it's a pretty darn good mic. *It doesn't seem to have a lot of high end, no hissing either, but it's easy to adjust the dynamic levels later to get a good solid sound. *It is really sensitive, and picks up distant sounds really well, and the human voice actually sounds really natural, no tingyness to it. *I'd have to say that if I was going to buy it again, I definatly would. *For $149 you really can't go wrong. *Just make sure that you don't have the phantom power turned on, otherwise you get a lot of hummm. *That little AAA battery does a good job of powering the mic, so that I don't have to turn the on camera levels above halfway.
I've got a wedding to do this weekend, so I'll let you know how it holds up.

thx very much for your good comments, it will be helpful. I checked the models suggested by Smithy, seems good but a little too pricey for me for now...So I think I'll go with the sgm-1x.
