I read the instructions , several times and still I don't understand.
On my 100a, how to contol sound recording?
I set up a Mike on xlr 2, try to disconnect the onboard mikes, I look and gaze tensely at the audio commands, but they do not reciprocate :'(. I am still lost.
Does anyone knows of a page on the web , that explains clearly the various setups of the audio commands and buttons?
Thanks

Try this---

Plug your mic into the INPUT 2 connector.
*
Set the Channel 1 select switch to INPUT 2.
*
Set the Channel 2 select switch to INPUT 2.
*
Make sure the INPUT 2 switch on the front of the camera is set to MIC (not LINE).
*
Make sure the INPUT 2 switch on the *side* of the camera is set to ON (48V phantom power).
*
Test the mic volume by speaking normally and setting Channel 1 level indicator so you're hitting 1-2 bars into the red.
*
Set the Channel 2 level indicator so you're not lighting any red bars. (your insurance channel)

The DVX can record two channels of sound (Channel 1 and Channel 2). The sources for either channel can be:

--the onboard mic,

--one or two external mics (mic level) through Input 1 or 2 or both,

--an external mixer (line level--stronger than mic level) through Input 1 or 2 or both,

--some combination of the above (i.e., a mixer at line level into Input 1, and an external mic into Input 2 at mic level)

Some mics require phantom power--the DVX can supply it through Input 1 or 2 or both.

Above 0 db (the thin red bar) the mic or line input will distort, so you want to record with your peaks below that level--but not too much below (maybe -6 db). If you record too much below 0 db, than you'll need to amplify the signal in post production--which will amplify the base noise or sound floor as well.
