So a friend of mine and I took hacked GH13 for a spin last week, I was shooting video all the time. After he took off he asked me for a few stills which I promptly cut from the video we had.

I'm pretty happy with the results. This won't replace a DSLR but for web/facebook pictures it's very very passable.

Isn't it though? Hahaha. Man if this quality was Full Frame... sheesh.

Very clean! Were you shooting AVCHD or MJPEG?

Slightly off-topic, but is anyone else seeing the new Flickr page design? It's fantastic! Wow. Great redesign, LOVE the lightbox and larger image sizes.

The GH1 grabs look great too.

I shot some tests yesterday evening and put it together today. My jaw was dropping every time I would pause the video to look for problems. I told my wife to get in here and said "Honey, what do you think?" She said "Nice picture" I pressed play and she thought it was great. I'm like a kid again with a new toy. Not just any toy... I got the millenium falcon set kind of toy.

AVCHD 1080p, Native 24P, original "D" settings (the ones that cap at 60Mbps).

Here's the video I grabbed these stills from (albeit massively lazy-graded since I did it uber quick):

Yeah, I love the Flickr re-design. It's about time!

I agree. The GH13 is like having a 2Mpx camera capable of shooting 24 stills a second.

I was talking to a prize winning 5DMkII owning friend here last week, and she said there's a lot of concern in the wedding photo business over here about people just wanting stills from video instead of photos - so much easier to get the shot at 24/25fps and choosing after, than having to do the olde worlde thing of pressing the shutter at the right time to get a still!
