Hey guys... I just thought some of you may find this interesting. Yesterday I went out to Bellerive (free tickets) to watch some of the senior pga guys practice for this weekend's tournament... (starts today). Naturally I brought my camera.
While the guys were playing you couldn't get very close... the fairways and tee-boxes are lined with ropes. In the first portion of the clip I'm at FULL zoom in the dvx and in the second portion I'm at about "65" on zoom.
This isn't really good audio, but I wanted to post it like this anyway to illustrate one thing that's great about the 416... I've heard it said before that it's like a tractor beam for sound and it sometimes seems like it. I let a friend borrow my 7506's so I had no way to check what the mic was hearing at the time... all I could do is adjust the levels by the meter. There were publicity tents everywhere with AC systems running so the meters always showed high signal. The funny thing is though, at the time I never heard the voice of ANYBODY... just the AC and cicadas... In this clip you can hear how the mic was able to pull voices out of the mess.
Like I said... it's not "production audio"... but for being on-cam and 30-40 meters away in a loud environment I was pretty impressed. The tee shot was probably only about 15 meters.
Click here to see/hear the clip... audio is reduced to 64 kbits. (http://www.gettreel.com/416%20on%20cam%20at%20US%20Open.wmv)
