I bought a pair of Sony 7506. Thought I could skimp and keep my Sony MDR-V150 ( $29.99 at Fry's).

There is a major noise related annoyance near my studio. He was driving me nuts today.

enter: UPS delivery man.

I put the new headphones on, and it was like a miracle. Gone! ( not really, but significantly reduced)

I then tried my old headphones--and they make me laugh!

Can't wait to use them on a shoot.

I just got a pair as well. I'm in love, even tough there are even better performers.

yeah, I want to get my name custom imprinted on them. They smell nice all new, too.
funny how I like these things better than the regular lady-fair..Jimmy Choo shoes, and Prada bags.

Well Prada bags Are definately overrated! ;D

Are you kidding the thing comes wrapped in a transperent case over a silk bed. That's what I call Chic. And if you need a leather purse, you can always use the included pouch... ;;D

Better than a Prada bag? Pookie--you're all right. The 7506's are great on a shoot. It's like having super ears. "I think I hear a gopher burrowing 3 blocks away...there's a faint squeaking coming from somewhere a mile to the Northeast..the guy in the grocery store on the next block has a receipt rustling in his pocket." ;D

Yeah, the only problem is if you are feeding them from the DVX heaphone out, then all you hear is white noise... :P

?

The 7506's are perfect for the DVX. Are you referring to the 100A? Because on the 100 "classic", the 7506's are perfectly matched and there's no white noise at all.

BTW they are great with editing also. Yes, I did notice the nice little bed of satin they come in. very sweet. The box joins things like those humoungous software boxes (FCP, Boris) where you don't really want to throw out the box, for no good reason..)

I'm sure there are lots of other great sets out there. I do now see the light. I always shoot with a boostaroo, also (www.boostaroo.com )-as I have the first generation DVXs. I wonder what the combo will sound like. I bought the headphones at EVS, $99 and they came here lickedy-split.

what do you mean by perfectly matched?

I mean, the impedance of the headphones matches the output of the DVX. No need for a Boostaroo or anything like that, the phones just work.

That's a screaming deal. Anyone with a DVX should have a set of these (or something better).

Yeah, Barry. I'm talking about the DVX100A. Actually I'm having a hard time with all the noise. It doesn't go on tape, but it really gets in the way of propper monitoring...

That is REALLY bizarre... white noise? Are you serious?

I've got the original dvx and it's as clean as a CD... I can crank it all the way up and no white noise...

Are you listening through the in-cam mic and actually hearing room tone?

BTW the Sony's have such a high output that they work great with any source... most headphones need a lot of juice to crank 'em up... not so the 7506s... a tiny walkman could blow your eardrums with these babies... so yeah, adios Boostaroo.

the dvx headphone out is noicy but not more then the sony 150 or even 570 . if you working dyrectly without mixer you have to live with it , if not take he returns from -10dbv outs, much cleaner sound

Nope, the noise continues even tough I crank the volume way down. It's a known problem amongst DVXA users. Loud as hell. I guess that can make for two other topics, What I don't like in the DVX and weather the DVX can work audio without a proper mixer.

It is my understanding that they boosted the output level on the DVX100A's headphone jack, and the result is some noise. That's one "upgrade" I could do without! I'd much rather use proper professional headphones and get a nice, clean, pure signal, but I guess so many people were using consumer headphones and couldn't hear anything coming from the DVX that they decided to change it. Wrong move, IMHO.

Really barry? Is that the only problem?
Could someone possibly modify the circuit and bypass the gain in the audio out? Theoretically?

Man, What does Jan have to say about that? It's completely absurd! Instead of getting with a selectable solution the just compromised? I tought one of the coolest DVX features was the audio, but now, I need to use an external mixer for a "luxury" of proper monitoring. Why go steps to make it the most advance camcorder in its class and then step back...
