???Hey, what's going on? I had a question to ask about my audio playback? It's seems that 50% of the time I playback video on my DVX the sound has drops in it. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Are you saying that the problem is only in playback--meaning that sometimes the same recorded material has dropouts and sometimes it doesn't? Or is this a problem everytime you record to tape?

Use the highest quality tape--the Panasonic MQ's and make sure your heads are clean. I experience an audio dropout once in a *great* while and if you're having them constantly, you've definitely got a problem. Have you checked your mic and mic cable?

Barry, what I have found is that the dropouts are in the same exact places. Sometimes I have been able to playback video and the drops are not there, then sometimes they return to the same places. I use the MQ tapes from Panasonic. I have had no drops on some tapes and then drops on a different one. What type of head cleaner should I clean panny with?

thanks, for the help!

Sounds like dirty heads. Some good quality isopropyl alcohol will work well. Here's a source for cleaner and swabs.

Hi, I'm trying to playback tapes originally recorded on an XLS-1 (at 30p)on a DVX100 in VCR mode but the audio is nonexistent or muddled. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
