18th Century Pistol...

I need to find a prop 18th century pistol. Not hard, I know. The thing is I need it to not necessarily fire, but have that lovely burst of smoke when "fired". How should one go about this?

detonationfilms.com has a set of black powder muzzle flashes which are mostly just smoke. just comp them in and your good to go.
