Hey everyone,

I currently bought an HVX and have been shooting with mini DV until I have the funds to buy an appropriate P2 card.

I am trying to transfer my tapes through FCP and have the 1394 firewire and FCP is reading the tape. The issue is that every time I try to capture the video its stops after only a few seconds of transfer and claims there was an issue and most likely with the tape. So i tried multiple tapes including much older ones that had had no trouble transferring through other devices. And still the same issue occurs.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to solve this.

thanks!

What error message is FCP giving you? If it's related to timecode, there is a setting in FCP you can uncheck to "abort capture on timecode breaks". Other than that, you need to provide more info on exactly what is happening. Does your taped footage playback fine in the camera?

you need to set FCP to "uncontrollable device" (or something like that), and start the camera manually (camera has to be in MCR mode).
