Honestly

What happended to Stallone? Seems like everytime I go into a Video Store there is some movie starring Stallone that never even made it into theatres. What happened to him?

Yes, I know DRIVEN sucked (Anything Renny does is lame) but I thought after COPLAND that we'd see a new side of Stallone. Too many Rocky films, way too many RAMBO's (Should have have stopped after FIRST BLOOD).

Anyone?

I think you hit the nail on the head. He killed it on those, completely type casted himself, and now that's all people think of when they see him.

Sad but true.

I like Stallone and he is a good actor (Get over his speech style and the way he talks). He really is a solid actor.

I actually liked DEMO MAN and CLIFFHANGER and DAYLIGHT. They were Popcorn but fun no less.

Hey everyone, let's not forget that he did Judge Dread. Which, IMO is the worst movie of all time.

I think Stallone has a lot of good movies that I enjoy watching simply for the fact I don't have to think and can just enjoy some stupid plot-based film. It's like women's romance novels, no substance but still enjoyable.

I liked Judge Dread in that sense. Get Carter was a big failure for him I think. He put a lot of effort into that and it was marketed like nothing else and then BAM flopped.

It's strange how he can go from Rocky which won best picture at the Oscars to Get Carter.

Movies like Demo man, Cliffhanger, and Cobra are all good because they know what they are as a movie and don't try to make themselves anymore. Movies like Get Carter try to be over stylized and characterized when they really shouldn't be. It means that people who want to see some plot and action have to sit through slow dialogue character revelation sequences. This turns people off. If he's going to do a movie like that he needs to make sure the movie is like that and not half and half. Pick something and stick with it... don't waffle...

Man,

I do have cobra on DVD, and, to be honest, I don't think it is as good as I used to think it was when I was a kid.

I enjoyed a few films with him. I got to say, I liked rambo, even though now I don't think he was such a good actor.

Demo man was quite enjoyable, Assassins was all right.

All the best

Fidel.

Cobra is amazing. Tango and Cash is amazing (Come on its got Russel in it).

Tango and cash was good. I quite liked it. I just watched again last month.

I haven't seen driven because I thought it was going to suck, and for the looks of it, it was crap, right?

All the best

Fidel.

PS: Another actor that vanished is Van Damme. I can't even remember the last Van Damme film I watched. I think it was the one with Denis Rodman and Mikey rourke. What a crappy movie.

I thought Get Carter was cool, that was the last Stallone film a liked. I think my favorite is Assassins though. I agree with Cop Land, I thought he had really turned a corner there.

Has anyone seen Shade?

I think Van Damme fell off after Street Fighter, he had a few after that, but nothing big.

I completely forgot about assassins. That was indeed a good stallone film... Banderas was particularly good in that I thought...

Off Topic somewhat considering I started it but...

Banderas is a great talent.

Did anyone else think he was hilarious as Puss in Boots?

I think I've said this before - but if I ever need a kick start to my working out - watching those training scenes in Rockies I-IV gets me pumped as I need to be...

And yes, Banderas was awesome as Puss!

Regarding animation voices, I thought Stallone did well in Ants. It was almost as if he parodied himself a little (over the top).

I agree with that. It did seem like it was Stalone doing Stalone.

You are well right on that.

can you believe Arnold Schwarzenegger is the most successful action star from the 80's.

I used to love Stallone when I was a kid.
Rambo 2 was the greatest thing ever for a 12 year old kid.

I have feeling that Stallone is going to come back huge in 10 years,
sort of like how John Travolta made a huge comeback by Pulp Fiction.

If he could just go back to that kind of lower budget grittiness of Cop Land or Rocky it would be great.

This is my first post, due to the fact that i have yet to see anything that really inspired me to post, but i was shocked that no one has mentioned how funny Stallone was in Spy Kids. It really cracked me up.

That so has to do with his connection to Banderas, who's connected to Rodriguez, who did spy kids ;)

A thread about Sylverster Stalone is the only thing we've talked about since Aug. 4th that you've thought was worthwhile? Uh oh. ;)

I don't spend to much time here, and since I don't really have any solid advice for people, due to the fact that I don't know a lot about video production, I don't feel the need to post about things I don't really know about. I don't desire to be one of those people who only ask questions, and never answers any. I was just shocked to see no one mentioned Spy Kids, and I felt it needed to be brought up.

I can't beleive LOCK UP staring Sly hasen't been mentioned.

It's a Classic! and I deffinitly recommend it.

I think Sly was one of the all time best action heros behind Arnie of course (T2 one of my all time favs)

Rocky 4 was one of my favs out of the Rockys and Tango and Cash is really good "You broke that jaw?"

Great opening scene with the truck and I love the relationship/rivalry between Tango and cash.

Hey guys,

I just heard that Sly is being sued by a boxer. Aparently, Sly used the boxer's name to promote his film 'Rocky'. And there are millions of dollars involved in this case.

I'll get an update on this.

All the best

Fidel.
