Does anybody know how Gordon Willis lit the train scene from Woody Allen's "Stardust Memories"? Everyone thinks it's a Fellini homage and maybe it is, but it's lit better than anything Fellini ever did.

I'm guessing open-face tungsten, no softboxes or kinos and a whole shitload of cutters.

I have this film, but I haven't watched it in a long while. Of course, I wasn't there, so I have no idea how he actually lit the scene, but I could watch it and take a guess.

I'll report back later.

Can you imagine how great it would be if you could just IM someone like Gordon Willis and ask?

Well...remember that when you're famous. :)
