I am tossing between 32 gig P2 and a Firestore FS-100 100GB hard disc video recorder for my HVX200

I don't care about cost just performance.

I edit on PC using Premier pro cs4

I want to use MXF format for editing which both do

Which is the better one to get?

Cheers

P2. It's shockproof, hot-swappable and with a smaller form factor; all around a much more reliable media. The HVX, like many camera, has a crappy 4 pin FW connector that doesn't lock. A slight shake out in the field can easily dislodge the wire just enough so that you'll either damage the connector or lose connection with the Firestore without realizing it. The Firestore was made as a cheap alternative to P2, but now prices have dropped more than enough that it's just not worth the trouble anymore.

No question whatsoever, P2 is much much much better.

Exactly. FS-100 made a lot of sense for a lot of people back when an 8GB card was $2200. Now that you can get 128gb, or over 16x as much storage, for the same money, it's not even a question anymore.

Yeah Firestore is nothing but problems for a lot of folks. P2 is the way to go.

Had a FS-100, and it did the job well when p2 cards were very pricey.

Still a good device, but given the E series pricing, and the foolproof nature of p2, it really is the way to go.
