Hey all,

I have done a lot of research and have come to a complete understanding of the proper way of dumping footage from a P2 card into FCP. But what's proper process for an HDHC card? I assume you cant use P2CMS. So do you just use the "Log and Transfer" option in FCP? If so then how does that work because I go to log and transfer after I mounted the SDHC card but it doesn't appear in the log and transfer window. Do I just Drag and Copy the footage files instead? Any help is as always appreciated. Thanks

Yeah you just drag and drop onto your hard drive. Which camera are we talking about? If it's a 150- you need to update FCP to the latest version to get the log and transfer plugin.

Its just for a HD Handheld. An Xacti HD1010. I have just never worked with HDHC cards on FCP. Thanks for the help. just to clarify though, thats the only way to do it? Drag and drop? Should I write protect the card as I do with the P2 cards? or does that not matter with HDHC cards?

Typically does not matter. But it doesn't hurt. If it's Xacti you'll need to load up those files in something like MPEG Streamclip and convert to ProRes before you edit. FCP will not accept the shots directly through Log and Transfer.
