So the crew from Breach Of Faith decided we had enough time to bang another one out... Last weekend. Since the crew was acting we.... had no crew really. This is what we love to do and we think it's funny.

Great locations. Loved the ending and the murder on the street. Nice job. I have Nothing bad to say.

The story or dialog could use some work... He said he was on a night off in his man cave? Then some random guys walks in? Seems like he is in the delivery business not import/export and that he was actually at work. Other than that it was cool. I agree with Richard the murder on the street was great as was the ending. I also like the choice to go black and white.

thanks. this whole project to us was kindof our last minute joke. we were bored one night and decided to bang this out. we weren't sure what to put in the case until we were shooting. so glad you guys liked it.

did you expect that twist. haha. we didn't.. we weren't sure what to put in that case but glad you liked those shots. we were going for pretty generic and all the actors are the crew from breach of faith. haha

I agree with Nemesis. I also don't think it's believable that the man would have this guy deliver divorce papers in a locked briefcase, and then the guy guesses the right combo on the first try. That said, I thought the note written on TP was funny. I always like to hear about filmmakers going and making a film on a whim. I like the black and white. Different. Good job!

the case wasn't even locked. haha it's all set to zero but i probably should've written it in somewhere.. it was on a whim. haha

Well i think the story was F*CKING awesome. I loved the story and never thought that the girlfriend would be in on it. The onylt hink i can complain about was the acting, nothing against them but it just seemed like they were reading off a card or they couldnt remember their lines so you edited to fit. The kill scene was played well....the acting ont hat fit...I just wish the acting throughout was better it would have made the story more interesting. Other then that freakin awesome man,

thanks alot i'm glad you liked it.. all the actors are really the crew.. hence why it's pretty bad. haha.. we did it on a whim and well had no actors so everyone who shot breach of faith acted in this one. it was one of those if your not infront of the camera your behind it. haha

yeah the acting was the weakest part in this one by far though the directing/cinematography was good and there were some very nice shots like when the guy is accosted at the end and is shot/chopped up etc. good effort.

Story: Not bad, but not as good as Breach. There were some big holes in this one.
Acting: So - So. This one came off as pretty amateurish in spots. I liked the VO though.
Technical: Not too bad. The sound was pretty weak though.
Big difference from BOF. I read through this and see that it was very last minute. It kind of shows.

Pretty cool stuff. Some good shots, like the one at 1:00, that was a nice shot. Audio wasn’t on your side on this one, a lot of “on camera” stuff was left in even when there wasn’t any dialogue, could have been replaced. A few areas where you could hear what sounded like camera noise, breathing behind the camera, etc.
Having said that I was still interested in the story, which was simple and pretty cool, not bad for a last minute entry, so I can understand some of the technical issues with this. Acting was hit and miss, but still decent overall.
Memorable Moment
The kill on the street. That was pretty nifty!
Overall nice stuff, since you said this was a pretty last minute attempt with some extra time you had I won’t go into any more detail, other than the fact that I enjoyed it.
Liked that it was black and white and you had some cool shots in there. Congratulations.

The story was interesting but the pace was a little quick. Some really well done things like the shooting scene. Nice job.

Great title. It reminds me of classic film noir and I love film noir.
I also thought the black and white was a good choice for this film. My favorite part was the murder; I love the way he fell back and slumped to the ground. That whole shot was great.
Nice twist ending. Best of luck in the fest.

My critique for The Kiss That Kills
The story:
Clear and to the point. A double-betrayal -- AWESOME!
The acting:
No complaints here. All the actors did great!
The camerawork:
The colors were cool. The camera work was impressive!
The editing:
I noticed a lot of black spots -- editing may need some tightening but besides that everyone else was good. You told a great story with solid editing
The sound and music:
Dialogue and sound design need some sweetening but other than that it was fine. Very clear. Music was great!
Overall impression:
Great beginning to end. Definitely good work!
My favorite shot:

lol, not bad for just throwing something together.
'deliver this to a woman on 16th street, but you gotta go through the alley on 15th and you'll land right in front of their house.' 'and i promise ... nothing bad will happen to your if you if you follow these directions exactly'.
i mean, sometimes you gotta just get out and shoot a film right? thanks for sharing!

This film has a cool look.
The basement shot with the bare lightbulb when the girl was looking back at the 2 guys was nice.

"Start at one Dumbass!" What was the combination 000 001? He should go into cracking safes. This is what i loved...the black and white, the machette, the lead telling his girl to get him a drink with a nod and that lock code! I enjoyed it!

Looks like that guy never changed the briefcase lock. There was little motivation so it seemed out of the blue and didn't have the impact I'm sure you wanted. Oh, and I liked the guy throwing bullets. :)

I think there was a decent story here, but the acting could have been stronger. I think the girl did fine, but overall, it could have been stronger. I did like the black and white and the atmosphere you created. The VO was okay, but I think would have been better if it was slowed down and a little more natural. Like the guy is telling this story, but not sure if he wants to or not sure if he should. I like the idea of the briefcase and the betrayal in the story, but one thing stood out at the end - "I done dealing with your sh*t?" Shouldn't that have been "I'm done. . ..?" Anyway, good job.

thanks for the review and well the "i done dealing..." we thought was funny.. and all the actors but the girl were the crew. so if you weren't behind the camera you were infront of it. haha so we all know we suck.. nothing harsh we're not actors.
and Keaton.. throwing bullets.. that just sounds awesome. haha makes my character seem SOO much cooler. haha

I see where you guys are coming with this one. Just some fun stuff and horsing around.
Love the guy getting his hand cut off. I just watched the car scene w/o the sound on. You don't need sound to get her last line!
I'm confused by the vagueness of guy #1, #2 & #3 in the credits. Which one are you? The killer?
MSpencer
03-16-2010, 02:15 PM
well guy #1 would be brian the director who's actually the guy giving him the case.. he makes a second appearance on the long walking shot he just walks in the background haha we thought it was funny.. and yes.. i was the killer.. hahaha.. the worlds best lock picker.. but the joke was that it wasn't even locked. haha
