I've been shooting a motorcycle doc for about a year and I probably have another year till shooting and editing is done.
Does anyone have any idea of how to get donations? Can the benefactor(s) get a write off? It's about a motorcycle so I doubt I can get a grant (It's not a social commentary about the negatives of society or a tear-jerker about how bad some people have it).
Thanks in advance,
Carl

The only way the donors can get a writeoff is if they make a contribution to a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization. Contact your local chapter of Women In Film or the Film Arts Foundation or some other film-oriented non-profit and see if they'll agree to act as a fiscal sponsor, accepting contributions on your behalf. If so, they can maybe grant you the money after they receive it (less a 5% to 20% fee or whatever for their services) and the donor will be able to write it off...
