First off, this seems like a common mistake to make, but alas, I couldn't quite find my exact situation in the archives -- so if this question has been answered thousands of times, I apologize.

I have a few hours of footage shot with HVX on MiniDV. It's been a looooooooong time since I shot 24P on tape, and this shared equipment was -- unfortunately -- set to 24P not 24PA.

I pulled the clip (Let's call it clip A) into Cinema Tools and hit "Reverse Telecine" -- it worked for awhile and dumped out a clip with the same length (48 minutes) but about 2 GB smaller (Let's call it clip B).

I can watch Clip B in Quicktime and it looks fine, but when I import it back into Final Cut I'm seeing 3:2 again.

What's happening?

For this to work you need to log footage clip by clip- sucking it in all as one giant tape won't cut it because the cadence changes on every start/stop.

Shoot -- forgot to come back and mention that I got it all to work.

What I did was this:

1 - Set camera to 24PA so this won't happen again! I wish...I'm working with a pool of equipment, and the camera I had before has already gone back into the pool. I'll be more careful next time though.
2 - In Final Cut, I took the hour long clip with 3:2 pulldown and hit mark>DV start/stop

Fortunately it was a lecture that was being filmed, so the camera had only been paused 2 times in that hour (For a total of 3 segments)

3 - Using quicktime, I segmented the hour long clip. I just used the trim feature in Quicktime X, you could do the same time in Quicktime 7 Pro. I saved out the trimmed clip with a new name, then untrimmed the clip and trimmed it again.

4 - Delete the hour long clip (Well I trashed it...it's probably still in the trash) and run the 3 new clips through Cinema Tools.

Voila! Pulldown gone! Crisis averted!
