Hi there.

I just finished reading the stickies in this section on being a P2 loader. I am extremely NEW to P2 workflow. When I say new I mean new. I have, to this day, never transfered anything off of my P2 cards. I have shot footage onto them testing them out, but never dumped footage off of the cards. I have always shot using the tape deck on the HVX until I would be ready to go tapeless. That being said, I really need some assistance on the process of dumping footage off of the cards and help with the P2 workflow. I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OSX, FCP, an HVX200, 2x16gb P2 cards, a DuelSystems duel adapter, and all of the P2 driver firmware updated. I updated all the firmware about 2-3 months ago off of the Panasonic website. Which I got assistance on doing so from a Panasonic member. If there has been more firmware updates since then, ill have to update. I also downloaded the free P2CMS program from panasonic. So as far as I know, aside from having "Raylight" which I unfortunately don't, I should be ready to go tapeless. All I need now is to know what to do to dump the footage off of my cards. What I mean by that is, once I'm done shooting HD footage onto the card, what then? What's the process of dumping footage all the way to the point of getting the footage into FCP to edit? Where do i go from there to pull the footage of the cards? Im so sorry if this is asking a lot, but if anyone could please help me out by sending me a detailed check list of the process of dumping, storing, and transferring footage from the P2 cards it would be AMAZING help. Also. I read from Barry Green that it is not possible anymore to format the cards using FCP. Then if I understand correctly now I would have to format my cards using P2CMS? For example If I where shooting a wedding and hot swapping cards? Which is what I want to go tapeless for, weddings. Thank You very much for any help.

Go this page--> http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=243668&catGroupId=34401&surfModel=AG-HVX200A&displayTab=R

And click on understanding Final Cut workflow. In addition, instructions for transferring your files to your hard drive is covered in your manual. If you don't have the manual it is available on the same page linked above.

As for weddings, I have 2x16GB cards, and shooting 720/24pn, the 84 minutes of space is more than enough for any Protestant wedding, and for Catholic weddings, I turn the camera off during the mass (when the congregation is going through the line) to save some time. I have not had any time issues, but I have an 8GB card just in case.

I dump both cards to the laptop on the way to the reception. I verify the footage with P2 Viewer, then I reformat the cards in the camera, never with any other app. Once you figure out your workflow, you'll be ready to go.
